The Fox's Quarantini

Considering the current situation there's several recipes for "Quarantini" cocktails hitting the internet, some are good, some are bad.

I thought I would throw my own cocktail hat into the ring with the SilverFox's own Quarantini -

50ml dark spiced rum
35ml lemon juice for vitamin C
1 tablespoon honey for immunity booster and it's natural antiseptic attributes

Shake over ice and serve in your preferred glass,  enjoy and stay healthy and safe !

Be prepared to make a note in your diary, the 9th of April is international Gin & Tonic day (as is October 19th curiously). This was news to me, because as far as I’m concerned every day of the week would be better with a G and T in it.

That being said I thought I would honour this prestigious day by telling a short history about this long drink.

I can remember it like it was only yesterday, an innocent of only 18 years of age, sitting in the comfortable chair of a poolside bar, watching the shimmering light on the otherwise abandoned pool. I paint a romantic scene but truth be told the pool was in a Greater London hotel and it was a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Historic Bars ~ Havana

27/10/2016

When you think of Cuba two things spring to mind – cigars and rum (at least if you’re me). With its affinity for rum there’s no surprise that Cuba has been the birthplace of some of the most famous rum cocktails,  also Havana itself has not one, but two of what I would class as historic bars, which I’m going to talk about a little here if you would indulge me.

London Cocktail Week 2014

London Cocktail week has passed once again and we few, we happy few, we band of gentlemen made it our third year of consecutive attendance. So after days of waving wristbands in bartenders faces and demanding cheap cocktails how did this year compare to the previous entries ?

Let us start by saying that this year had a record number of bars participating. The event has grown over the years and spread from Seven Dials all over London like a spilt Martini on a table. With such a magnitude of bars it makes it impossible to try them all, this being said we ended up focusing on West London in the traditional area of Seven Dial and Covent Garden.

Bottle Ageing Cocktails - Part 4 : The 6 Month Batch

A lot has happen in 6 months, countries have been invaded, governments have fallen, streets have been flooded, cats and dogs living together – mass hysteria.

Alongside all of this bottled cocktails have been ageing, resting quietly in my dark laboratory (or as some people call it my under stairs cupboard) waiting, no plotting, their unleashing upon an unsuspecting world.

Bottle Ageing Cocktails - Part 3 : The 3 Month Batch

Well three months has seemed to fly by for me but what has it done for my cocktails ?

The difference between the 6 week and 3 month bottle isn’t immediately as noticeable, that’s not to say it hasn’t improved. The taste is slightly sweeter and smoother, but it isn’t as much of a leap in tastes as a freshly mixed cocktail compare to the 6 weeker. Again the drink has mellowed and matured as you would hope and expect and is very easy to drink.
