Brentingby Gin is handcrafted and bottled in the heart of England. The passion of Bruce Midgely, born in South Africa and currently living in Melton Mowbray, he studiously learned the art of distilling under world class master distiller Tom Nichol, honing his expertise to earn the label of craft gin maker. Taking his craft to the next level Bruce personally designed a 10 plate copper column still, and after manufacture, meticulously assembled each piece of the structure by hand himself. Keeping his South African roots in mind he fondly named the still Ayanda, which as we all know is the Zulu word for augment or proliferation. The still heralds the promise of a future that will complement her prolific environment. The eye catching bronze / gold bottle is adorned with the logo of the Hibiscus Flower, representing the link between the birthplace of Bruce (kwa-Zulu-Natal) and his gin. Hibiscus is also one of the botanicals used to craft this London Dry Gin, others include juniper, angelica, coriander and birch. The gin is bottled at 45% ABV. SilverFox Tasting Notes
Taking a walk in the Melton Mowbray hills the fresh morning air fills my nostrils. There’s a more unfamiliar scent on the wind that takes my mind back to more exotic locations. The warm spice of the South African landscape and it’s sweet floral notes mix with the familiar, yet comforting taste of juniper. Brentingby Tasting Notes Nose: Crisp citrus from the coriander with zesty notes from the grapefruit and pine from the juniper. Palate: Juniper forward supported by coriander, liquorice, angelica and birch with a very subtle trace of hibiscus on the finish. Finish: Well sustained length of a fine dry juniper gin, with sweetness from the liquorice. Fox’s rating: 7/10 Average Price: £36.95 Available Here The SilverFox
