Broker's Gin

Broker’s Gin was created in 2000 by Martin and Andy Dawson. The brand aims to represent typical Englishness, hence the Bowler hat that adorns each bottle to conjure the quaint image of a gentleman stockbroker, cutting his way through the streets of London (perhaps not unlike John Cleese doing silly walks), hence the name Broker’s for the brand.

The gin itself is weights in at a hefty 47% and is handcrafted in Warwickshire, based on a 200 year old recipe. The natural spirit is wheat derived and distilled no less than six times through the traditional copper pot-still - which is fondly named Constance. The botanicals themselves are juniper berries, coriander seed, cinnamon, cassia bark, nutmeg, liquorice, orris root, angelica root, lemon peel and orange peel. Certainly a classic recipe, but does Broker’s cut the deal or does it slink back to a dusty stock exchange of red braces and oversized mobile phones ?
Fox's Tasting Notes

Strong, bold and well put together - like the firm handshake that seals the big business deal. The botanicals aren't over powering and you can certainly feel the extra percentage with a satisfying extra kick.

Broker’s Tasting notes

Nose: Rich aromatic, light on juniper.
Taste: Smooth and well-rounded.
Finish: L
ess dry and juniper as it's competitors. The fuller flavour of Broker’s Gin creates an exquisite Gin & Tonic.

Broker’s has won a multitude of awards in its 15 year career, most recent being the gold medal at the 2015 international spirit awards.  Broker's is also very reasonably priced, especially considering it's higher percentage. Aesthetically the bottle has a very strong brand presence with
it’s novel bowler hat and quirky Englishness, perhaps aimed more at the foreign market than us at home. Never the less, if the stereotype of an English gentleman is well dressed, professional and in quiet appreciation of his glass of gin then it’s a stereotype I’m happy to propagate.
