Distillers found they could cover up the flavour of the lower quality rums by infusing them with exotic spices such as vanilla, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. The result would turn a bad batch of liquor into a more palatable potion – now there’s a rum deal for you!
With this in mind I thought I’d have a try myself, to follow my recipe you’ll need –
Put the ingredients into a mason jar or spare bottle (an empty rum bottle works well)
Allow the ingredients to infuse, you can leave it for a minimum of 3 day up to several weeks
Decant the infused mix into an empty bottle
