After proud years of careful stewardship the dark soil around Enniscorthy is now producing another crop - premium, locally sourced, locally distilled spirits. Here we will be looking at Jackford Irish Potato Gin. Unsurprisingly with their history as potato farmers this gin is based on 100% potato spirit. Asides from Juniper Jackford boasts an impressive array of botanicals such as Black peppercorns, Orris root, Cassia bark, Basil, Gooseberry, Bitter Orange, Rosemary, Liquorice root and Angelica. After distillation the gin is bottled and sold at 41% ABV. Jackford Gin is already making some waves in Ireland, winning Irish Gold Medal at 2018 Irish Whiskey Awards, but how does it stand up here ?
