My quest for custom clothing continues with another visit to www.tailor4less.com. For those of you who missed out on my last Tailor4Less review of a custom shirt you can find it here.

Stay tuned however because today we are going to look at some of their newest lines of products – coats at http://www.tailor4less.com/en-uk/men/custom-coats/ somewhat appropriate for this time of year. Today was a particularly chilly morning, with the kind of cold that bites at you like a hungry rat gnawing at your frost bitten toes. As I look out my window and see the cold grey clouds rolling past the skeletal dead trees, I can’t help but think – I need a good coat.

Me being me I am seldom satisfied with the high-street shops, don’t get me wrong there are some great brands out there, but you can’t beat playing a hand in choosing and designing your own clothing. If gives you a connection to your garment you can’t get any other way.

Talking of design the website tool for coats and jackets is as pleasurable to use as its other design functions. There are two types of coat to choose from - rain coats and your classic Crombie style overcoats. I opted for the later on this occasion.

There are many customizations to choose from to give your coat that personal touch, such as collar style, epaulettes, belts and thread colour. Then you move on to your choice of fabric. Unlike some other custom coat sites I could mention (but I won’t as I don’t like to give negative reviews) you can choose from fabrics such as cashmere, wool and blends, not the cheaper fabrics I’ve seen elsewhere. I went for a grey 100% cashmere and styled it to be a long military style coat. I must admit I did take a little inspiration from Benedict Cumberbatch’s amazing Sherlock coat and look forward to running around London in a dramatic manner with a suitable sidekick.
When it comes to sizing the site has a system to input your height, weight and age to estimate your measurements or you can measure yourself. The system is fairly accurate but it’s always worth taking the extra time to measure yourself.

Construction and delivery was lightning fast and in just two weeks I was cradling my new coat lovingly in my arms. Once again the fit was superb and the fabric is soft and smooth to the touch.

In conclusion I am again a very happy customer, and I think I may have found my online tailor of choice. As I said before some other companies may offer more showy customizations, but when it comes to clothing you can’t beat a quality fit and good material, which Tailor4Less offers at a very reasonable price. As I look at myself in the mirror I can’t help but think that it’s a shame that the winter doesn’t last a bit longer, I’d have more time to wear my new coat !
Until we meet again
